About STCI


1. What is Save the Children India?

Save The Children India is a registered non-profit whose mission is to nurture, educate and guide the growth of vulnerable children so that they are able to develop into strong, productive citizens working to build and sustain a bright future for self and country.

2. Who founded Save the Children India?

Save the Children India was founded by the late Mrs. Vipula Kadri, a dedicated social worker who made a difference in the lives of millions of women and children. Mrs. Kadri also founded the sister organizations of Save the Children India – P.R.I.D.E INDIA and WISE through which she was able to reach out to the rural population as well.

3. Who manages Save the Children India?

The CEO of Save the Children India is Dr. Subhadra Anand. Dr. Anand has had a career in the field of education spanning 36 years, first as a lecturer in History, then as the Vice-Principal and finally as the Principal of National College, Mumbai. Dr. Anand is also a prominent academic, specializing in the history and culture of the Sindhi community. She has conducted research and presented papers in several universities, Harvard and Oxford amongst them. Her doctoral thesis was on the plight of the Sindhis in the post-partition period. Her book, published in 1996, is titled ‘National Integration of Sindhis’. Dr. Anand brings to Save The Children India her excellent administrative experience and skills, along with her compassion to work for the development of India’s underprivileged women and children.

The rest of the team is made up of dedicated professionals working to help the less fortunate.

5. What are the main activities of Save the Children India?

STCI works in three main areas:  education, health and women’s empowerment.  We support both urban and rural populations.

Donating to STCI


1. How do I donate?

You can make an online or offline donation to Save the Children India.  To make an online donation, click here. 

To make an offline donation, please make out a cheque to Save the Children India and have it couriered to:

2. Before I make a donation, I want more information about the Save the Children India’s programs.
Where do I find this?

Save the Children India works in three main areas:  education, health and women’s empowerment.  Click on the program you are interested in and that will take you a page where you will get details abut the work we do.

3. What tax benefits will I get for my donations to Save the Children India?

Donations by Indian taxpayers are eligible for 50% tax exemption as per Section 80g of the Income Tax laws.

Save the Children India is also eligible to receive grants from CAF America. This means that U.S. donors can donate to STCI through CAF America and receive a tax exemption as per Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. To donate in this manner, please download this form and send it to:

4. How do I donate clothes/old toys and books/vessels, etc?

Our projects are constantly in need of items such as clothes, books, shoes, ladies toiletries and trinkets, stationery and craft materials, stitching equipment, used newspapers, toys, bicycles, sports equipment and the like. If you think that you would be able to send us some of these or more valuable items such as your old car, computer, camera etc. which are in a good condition, please give us a call or write to us at info@savethechildrenindia.org.

5. What are some of the other ways I can give to Save the Children India?

You can donate your shares or stocks, or you can leave a gift to Save the Children India in your will.  You can make a donation as a gift to a loved one on a special occasion or you can make a donation in remembrance of a dear one who has passed on.

Payment methods


1. I want to make an online credit card donation. Is your site secure?

Yes, our site is secured by the ICICI Bank Payment Gateway.

2. While making my payment through credit card/net banking I got an error message.

This could be because of irregularities in the internet connection, or because your credit/debit card might require a specific authorization from your bank.

3. I want to make a payment by cheque. How does that work?

Simply make out a cheque to ‘Save the Children India’ and have it couriered to:

4. Why was my cheque not accepted / returned?

This could be because the bank has declined the cheque in which case you can directly contact us on info@savethechildrenindia.org and we will get back to you on what next.
It could also be because the name of our organization was misspelled.

Donation Receipts


1. When will I get a receipt for my online donation?

If you reside in India, you can expect a receipt within one week of your donation. For all international donations, the receipt will take 15-20 days to reach you.

2. I have made a donation, so why haven't I received my receipt?

It’s possible that there might have been an error in the address that you entered. There could also be an error on the part of the courier company. In such a situation, please contact us on info@savethechildrenindia.org and we will track your receipt and/or issue you a new receipt.

3. I've lost my receipt. What do I do now?

Contact us and we will issue you a duplicate receipt.

4. Can Save the Children India send me a receipt by post or courier?

All domestic receipts are sent by courier, all international ones by post.

5. I would like a copy of the Sec.80G certificate. Where can I find it?

We will send you a copy of the 80G certificate along with your receipt.

5. What are some of the ways I can support the work Save the Children India does?

Save the Children India supports women by having them make products for us. You can buy accessories, home furnishings and a lot more to support these women.  eBay India is our partner though which we sell our products.

Jet Airways has partnered with Save the Children India to raise funds for all our projects. Next time you are flying with Jet Airways, please be sure to make a donation to Save the Children India at the end of the flight when the flight attendants bring around the Magic Box.

Araaish is an exclusive shopping event held in several cities across India. When you attend and buy products at Araaish, part of the proceeds go to Save the Children India.

1. What is Araaish?

Araaish is the fund-raising arm of Save The Children India, promoting the concept that ´Glamour and Giving Go Together’. Prestigious designers are invited to showcase their designs and shoppers are invited to shop till they drop! A part of the proceeds of the event go to Save The Children India.

2. Does Save the Children India make and sell their own products?

Yes we do.  These products are made by underprivileged women and the sale of these products helps these women to support their families.

3. Where can I buy Save the Children India products?

Visit the Araaish website to know when the next event in your city is. You can also have a look at our products on www.araaish.com.
Save the Children India products are now also on eBay. Click here to buy them.

4. What if I want to place a bulk order for Save the Children India products?

Send us an e-mail on info@araaish.com with the details of the order that you need to place. Depending on the type of product, quantity and time available, we will process your order.
