In September 2009, the Save Our Sisters department in association with the B.E.S.T, conducted an Inter-Collegiate short-film competition to raise awareness about the issue of human trafficking. Apart from aiming to reach out to students and spread awareness on trafficking issues in India, the competition also aimed at fostering the students’ talents and creativity on a socially relevant topic.
A series of films of one-minute duration made by Bachelors of Mass Media students from various colleges in Mumbai were screened during the morning and evening peak commuter hours on BEST buses operating on a number of routes throughout the city. Save The Children India entered into an agreement with the BEST Bus Service to make use of the LCD screen system to showcase various aspects of trafficking and highlight the issue amongst the general public.
The winners of the competition were felicitated by the chief guests, Bollywood actress Ms. Raveena Tandon and Mr. Uttam Khobragade, General Manager, B.E.S.T (I.A.S). Also present to honor the students were Mr. Shekhar Jha & Mr. Mahesh Gharat, Senior Creative Directors, Ogilvy & Mather Pvt Ltd and Dr. Subhadra Anand, CEO, Save The Children India.
The members of the winning team were given the opportunity to intern with Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, one of the leading communications agencies in India.
