Support Our Projects - Balwadi

Support a Balwadi by providing Classroom materials ( teaching aids, worksheets, educational toys)
for 6 months for Rs. 2500

Here’s how your contribution could help:

Poonam Jawale has been living with her grandparents ever since both her parents expired when she was very young. Her grandfather works as a watchman and her grandmother works as a domestic help to support themselves and Poonam.   The grandparents were not well educated and did not know about the importance of pre-school in a child’s development.

Save the Children India’s social worker convinced Poonam’s grandparents to enroll her in the community Balwadi.  In the Balwadi Programme, stress is laid on all round development of a child.  The Balwadi also provides nutritious snacks since the children who attend come from families that cannot afford a well-rounded diet.  Poonam learnt about cleanliness and hygiene, how to share, and maintain group discipline in class.  She enjoyed the different activities in class like arts and craft and music and dancing.  Soon she was learning her alphabets, numbers and nursery rhymes.

Unlike other children who didn’t get a good start, when it was time for Poonam to move to the mainstream Municipal school, she had no problem in getting admission and adjusting to the classroom environment.  The Balwadi had prepared her well.
