Sufiyan Sabir Khan was born and brought up in a lower middle class Muslim family. He was born with profound mixed hearing loss and his family had lost hope for the boy because they had no awareness or understanding of this condition. The child was very isolated and lived in his own world with no social interaction.
Sufiyan enrolled in Save the Children India’s Special Care Center when he was four years old. Initially, he was very introverted and stayed away from the other children. Our teachers and counselors worked with him and slowly built his confidence. Sufiyan began opening up and playing with other children.
Today Sufiyan is seven years old and a regular student of the Special Care Center. The Center continues to work with him, teaching him the basics of education as well as other life skills.
